5.0 out of 5 stars Fits the bill 14 May 2012

As an Excel junkie and newer Tableau user, I am happy that I bought this book. My manager picked up Tableau for better presentations to our exec and sales teams, but after reading through much of this book, I am planning to use it for some more projects.

This isn't the standard software book, which is quite nice since I am still learning a lot about analysis. Good advanced examples, especially the motion charts and the coverage of calculations and parameters. The other great thing is how to use reference lines, which I have never used before.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Primer 29 May 2012

This book is an excellent primer for Tableau 7. It will take you from zero knowledge to functional in a week or so depending upon how much time you have to devote to it. This is a great resource that should not be passed up by the inexperienced with Tableau 7.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Instruction 4 July 2012
By Douglas Mills - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
A good (probably the only) book on using Tableau for visual representation of data. Good explanations for basic functions and graphs, and a pretty good explanation of different visual basic language and syntax to enhance what is written into the program. It helped me get a grip on Tableau and the various chart types, and I would recommend it to anyone new to the application.
